Toothbrushes For Kid’s

Most toothbrushes for kids these days will say a recommended age on them to help you in choosing the right one for your child. If you stick with the “stages and ages” recommendations on the brushes, then you will come across these in most supermarkets. Brands that do children’s toothbrushes like this include Aquafresh and Colgate. However, we did notice there wasn’t an option readily available to children who suffer with sensory issues or have limitations in mobility until we done some research and came across this brush.

It has an advanced three-sided design the covers all surfaces of the teeth and positions the bristles at the recommended angle of 45 degree. For parents who help assist with brushing but have very little cooperation for more than a few seconds, it’s great to know you can get some effective brushing done in the minimal time due to the whole coverage the brush provides. It also has a tongue scraper for eliminating bad breath and is great for orthodontic patients too!

Mouthwash For Kid’s

Mouthwash is a good product to have as part of your oral hygiene routine. It helps maintain healthy gums and teeth. We recommend that children between 6 and 12 years are accompanied by an adult when using a mouth rinse to make sure they are not ingesting the product and are using it effectively. To check if your child is ready for mouthwash you can get them to take a sip of water, swish it around their mouth and then spit it into the sink. If they manage this then its more than likely they can manage mouthwash.

For best oral care practice use a mouthwash at a different time to brushing or prior to brushing. If you use it afterwards, you are washing all the goodness of the toothpaste away resulting in the paste not effectively doing anything to help your child’s teeth.

Below we have recommended kids mouthwash products which will help your children’s teeth as they get older. These mouthwashes are alcohol free and come in various flavours which are PH balanced to reduce any burning or stinging sensations.

Disclosing Tablets For Kid’s

Disclosing tablets are used predominantly in children’s oral care but can also be used for adults. They are a chewable tablet that makes plaque visible by staining it a bright colour for you to see. This helps show areas where you are missing. Some tablets even show up old and new plaque by staining it two colours!

Most Dentists will recommend these for children/patients undergoing fixed braces in orthodontic treatment as it helps them to be more thorough with their brushing.

Also aids in correcting the individuals oral care brushing technique so that they then learn the areas that are being missed and adopt a better cleaning regime.
